The Most Stunning Waves You Will Ever See.
Ray Collins is an Ocean photographer from Thirroul in New South Wales, Australia. In 2007 Collins was involved in an underground coal mining accident, unable to walk, Collins spent the time reading and re-reading photography books, he started to understand the concepts of interpretation and manipulation of light. Already a lover of the ocean and its therapeutic properties, he knew the subject for his first photography assignment.
Collins started to shoot photographs of his friends surfing with the goal of getting a single shot published, almost by accident he caught the attention of international publications with his fresh perspective and willingness to risk his personal safety to get the shot.
Almost unbelievably in 2012 Collins put his camera down and didn’t take a single photograph for a year, instead he worked on himself and his relationship to the world he lives in. Born out of this introspective searching Collins started to campaign for cleaner oceans and partnered with some of the biggest companies in the automotive, computer and technology, aviation and fashion sectors while working closely with NGO’s, scientists, activists and charities to help bring awareness to our current situation of environmental fragility.
His signature style of moody seascapes captured the attention of the art world and nature lovers across the globe.
